NASA researchers have identified a new meteor shower, M2026–A1, caused by Earth crossing the "cosmic wake" of a disintegrating asteroid. This "rock-comet" sheds debris due to solar heat, triggering the bright fireballs reported globally this March. While the parent object remains hidden, scientists say this fresh debris field offers a rare look at thermal fragmentation and orbital safety.
