Scientists turn ocean waste to roads in Hawaii to fight pollution

Researchers have developed a method for putting Hawaii's plastic pollution to work, which involves covering its roads with asphalt mixed with plastic waste and old fishing nets. This method helps the island handle the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which engulfs it every few years. At present, over a metric ton of fishing nets alone have been paved into Hawaiian roads.
