Scientists watch neurons communicate in real time via new sensor
short by Swati Dubey / on Friday, 26 December, 2025
Researchers have created iGluSnFR4, a glowing sensor that enables real-time observation of brain cell communication within living brains. The sensor picks up glutamate signals at synapses in milliseconds. After screening 3,000 variants, researchers selected fast and slow versions, validated using advanced imaging in mouse brains, enabling deeper insight into neurological disorders and treatments.
