SEBI has proposed extending early pay-in benefits to commodity options, a facility currently available only for futures contracts. Under the existing framework, traders can deposit certified goods against sold contracts, allowing clearing corporations to waive most margins except mark-to-market. If implemented, the move could ease margin burdens and reduce the risk of short-delivery penalties.
