SEBI warns investors against fraudulent stock-tip WhatsApp groups

SEBI has warned investors against fraudulent stock tips and trading calls offered as free investor education through invitation-only WhatsApp groups. It said group members often post false claims of profits and praise the so-called market experts. This practice, known as astroturfing, creates a false sense of genuine support and encourages unsuspecting investors to follow fraudulent trading calls.
