IIT Bombay's initiative of sending a record of attendance to parents of freshers curbs their freedom and puts unnecessary pressure on them, according to a report by the institute's official student media body 'Insight'. The record, which is mandatory and sent bi-weekly, could create differences between parents and children and limit the students' inclusion in college's culture, the report stated.
