Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opened lower on Wednesday despite a ceasefire announcement. BSE Sensex, which opened 253.99 points lower, fell 500 points in early trade, while Nifty, which started the session 105.75 points lower at 24,470.85, dropped to 24,439.85.
