NCP (SP) Chief Sharad Pawar expressed concerns about farmer suicides in Marathwada and Vidarbha and urged the Central government to implement a policy to prevent them. Pawar made these remarks in response to the state relief and rehabilitation department's findings, that 2,635 farmers committed suicide in Maharashtra in 2024. Pawar said that AI will soon be used in sugarcane cultivation.
