Shooting of Japan's ex-PM Shinzo Abe is the fifth involving a politician of Japan since 1990, said NHK. In 1990, Motoshima Hitoshi, then-mayor of Nagasaki, was injured in an attack. In 1992 and 1994, attacks took place on then-LDP Vice President Kanemaru Shin and ex-PM Hosokawa Morihiro respectively, but both were unharmed. Nagasaki Mayor Ito Itcho was killed in 2007.
