Shivling at Amarnath cave melts due to extreme heat

The Shivling at the Amarnath cave in Jammu and Kashmir has started melting, in just a week after the yatra to the holy shrine began, due to the ongoing heatwave conditions. The yatra began on June 29 and over 1,50,000 pilgrims have already paid obeisance at the shrine. The Shivling at Amarnath cave is a naturally formed ice stalagmite structure.
