Short strides of dogs' front legs can indicate dementia onset: Study

A study published in 'Frontiers in Veterinary Science' found that decreasing stride length of dogs' front legs can indicate onset of dementia. Scientists said decreasing stride length as an indicator of worsening cognitive performance has also been seen in people with dementia. The changes are driven by deterioration in the brain's frontal cortex and cerebellum which plan and monitor movement.
