Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar revealed he shot an alternate ending of Piku after Irrfan Khan insisted on it. "[Irrfan] insisted, 'Shoojit da, I should go inside [Piku's house]...You said this is a romantic film'," he added. Shoojit Sircar further said Irrfan agreed with the director's decision to not include the scene after seeing the final cut of the film.
