OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, during a podcast with Norges Bank Investment Management CEO Nicolai Tangen, said there hasn't been great research at companies in Silicon Valley "for a long time". "I hate to say this because it sounds so arrogant [but] before OpenAI, what was the last really great scientific breakthrough that came out of Silicon Valley company?" Altman asked.
