Singapore to impose 'carbon tax' from 2019

Singapore will impose a 'carbon tax' from 2019 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in an effort to fight climate change, Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat said. A tax of S$5 per tonne of greenhouse gas emissions will be levied from 2019 to 2023 and will be imposed on facilities producing 25,000 tonnes or more of greenhouse gas emissions per year.
