A 23-year-old man from Chitradurga, Karnataka, was allegedly murdered by his sister and brother-in-law after being diagnosed HIV-positive. The victim, Mallikarjun, had recently been hospitalised following a road accident. Medical tests revealed his HIV status, which, according to police, triggered the accused to kill him fearing social shame and family disgrace.
