A Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested Kandararu Rajeevaru, the former chief priest of the Sabarimala Sree Dharma Sastha Temple, in connection with the alleged misappropriation of the shrine’s gold-plated religious artefacts. The former tantri — or chief priest — was arrested on Friday, 9 January, after a prolonged questioning by the high court-appointed SIT.
