The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday constituted a four-member Special Investigation Team to probe the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Kanpur. The SIT, which will have a six-month tenure, will examine FIRs lodged during the riots and cases wherein the accused had got relief from the court. At least 125 people were killed in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Kanpur.
