Skittles in the US are no longer being made with titanium dioxide, a controversial colour additive that whitens foods, brightens colors and makes candy appear shiny. This comes after US Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr targeted the ingredient over concerns that it may cause cellular and DNA damage. The additive was banned in European Union in 2022.
