Slovakia has detected its first cases of foot-and-mouth disease in 50 years at three farms in the southern part of the country, Agriculture Minister Richard Takac said on Friday. The virus poses no danger to humans but can cause fever and mouth blisters in cattle, swine, sheep and goats. Neighbouring country Hungary reported such cases earlier in March.
