Australia might once again turn to Steve Smith for captaincy duties in the upcoming Ashes 2025-26 series, as current skipper Pat Cummins continues to recover from a back injury. Chief selector George Bailey confirmed that if Cummins fails to regain full fitness before the series opener on November 21 in Perth, Smith will step in as captain.
