WHO has said that smoking is linked to a higher risk of severe illness and death from coronavirus in hospitalised patients. It reviewed 34 published studies on the link between smoking and coronavirus, including the probability of infection, hospitalisation, the severity of disease and death from the virus. Smokers represent up to 18% of hospitalised coronavirus patients, WHO added.
