Smoking rates have doubled among teenage girls in India

An alarming pattern among Indian teenage females is that smoking rates have increased by double over the last decade. The survey by Indian Tobacco Control, which is part of the Union Health Ministry, revealed some concerning trends among Indian females, including increased smoking rates. According to reports, adolescent girls saw a 3.8 percentage point increase from 2009 to 2019.
