The number of cyber crime complaints reported based on misuse of social networking sites doubled in 2021 compared to 2020 in Pune. The highest number of social media-related cyber crime cases were of defamation and posts by making fake profiles or making vulgar comments on posts or through messages. The cases doubled from 791 in 2020, to 1,518 in 2021.
