Social media firms need to enable voluntary user verification: Govt

Social media platforms are required to enable users to voluntarily verify their accounts, Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar said. The voluntarily verified users must also be provided with visible verification marks, he added. We're aware of the risk and danger posed by growing phenomenon of misinformation, bots, criminality and users' harm in general, he said.

After US President Donald Trump raised tariffs imposed on China to 104%, Chinese Premier Li Qiang said the country has ample policy tools to "fully offset" any negative external shocks. He also reiterated his optimism about growth of the world's second-largest economy in 2025. Trump raised tariffs after China retaliated to US' 34% tariffs with equivalent tariffs on US goods.

Trump raises tariffs on China to 104%
