IPS officer Abhay Chudasama, an accused in Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, was reinstated and given a posting as Superintendent, DGP Vigilance Squad by Gujarat government. Chudasama, who spent four years in prison, is the first accused IPS official in this case to be reinstated. Allegedly, Sheikh and his wife were abducted and killed in 2005, in Gujarat.
