Japan Renewable Energy Foundation has confirmed that solar power will become Japan's major energy source by this year. The country, one of the four largest markets for solar panels, has installed several renewable energy plants including the $1.1 billion solar farm in Okayama. Japan will now retire almost 2.4 gigawatts of polluting oil-fired plants, replacing it with alternative methods.
