Somalia and Ethiopia have topped the International Rescue Committee's Emergency Watchlist which highlights 20 nations at risk of worsening humanitarian emergencies in 2023. Afghanistan ranked third and Ukraine fourth on the list. The IRC was founded in 1933 at the suggestion of Albert Einstein. It considers armed conflict, climate change and economic turmoil as accelerators of humanitarian crisis.
