Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Friday said that India has "long standing ties with Somalia" and its "territorial integrity and sovereignty should be respected". This comes after Israel became the first country to recognise Somaliland. Notably, Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 but Somalia has never accepted Somaliland's independence.
