South India reports an alarming CKD prevalence of 14.78 percent

Once considered a disease of the elderly, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is rapidly emerging as a major health crisis in India. A study suggests that the burden of the disease is steadily increasing, with overall CKD prevalence in India now standing at 13.24 percent. The southern region recorded the prevalence of CKD at 14.78 percent, highest in the country.
