South Korea, North Korea and India celebrate their Independence Day on the 15th of August. The Indian Independence Day commemorates freedom from the British empire, while for both the Korean nations it commemorates the day the Korean Peninsula was liberated from Imperial Japanese colonial rule by the United States and the Soviet Union.
