South Korea will acquire 18,000 high-performance graphics processing units (GPUs) by the first half of next year to boost the country's artificial intelligence (AI) computing capabilities, the Ministry of Science and ICT said in a press release on Thursday. The government plans to secure 10,000 GPUs for a new AI center by 2027 and an additional 8,000 GPUs by June 2025 for its sixth supercomputer.
