South Western Railway removing 'superfast surcharge' from non-superfast trains: Report

South Western Railway (SWR) has begun withdrawing 'superfast surcharge' from trains running below the mandated average speed of 55 kilometres per hour (kmph), Moneycontrol reported. This comes after its April 20 report revealed that passengers were being charged a superfast surcharge despite trains not meeting the prescribed speed criteria. Passengers have started noticing a reduction in fares.
