Ukraine has replaced the Soviet-era symbol on the Motherland Monument statue in Kyiv with the country’s emblem. The 62-metre-tall Motherland Monument, which was created in the image of a fearless female warrior in 1981, has held a sword and a shield. But now, instead of the hammer-and-sickle emblem, the shield features the Ukrainian tryzub, a three-pronged emblem of Ukraine.
