Samajwadi Party MLA Hassan Roomi staged a protest outside Uttar Pradesh (UP) Assembly carrying codeine syrup bottles. “The government is discussing ‘Vande Mataram’ to divert attention from the cough syrup issue,” he said. UP Police is probing a multi-crore illegal trade in codeine-based syrups. Meanwhile CM Yogi Adityanath accused SP leaders of having links with those arrested in the case.
