The National Statistics Institute (INE) on Wednesday said over 31 million tourists visited Spain in 2021, a 64% rise from the 19 million that visited in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Statistics for 2021 are far below the pre-pandemic level in 2019, when Spain had 83.5 million tourists. Almost $40 billion was spent by tourists in Spain last year.
