Spider silk found to increase microscope power
short by Satyaki Das / on Saturday, 20 August, 2016
In a first, UK-based scientists have used spider silk to amplify the resolving power of an optical microscope. Physical laws limit normal optical microscope's resolving power at 200 nm. The team used a cylindrical piece of silk, measuring around one-tenth of a human hair's thickness, from Nephila spider as an added lens that provided a 2-3 fold improvement in magnification.
