Spiders can detect speech metres away, without ears

Spiders can detect human speech from several metres away, even though they do not have ears, a Cornell University research has discovered. Their acute sense of vibration is owing to sensitive hairs on their legs. The study, conducted on North American jumping spiders, further revealed the species was most sensitive to frequencies matching that of its natural predator, a wasp.
