Sri Lanka reports 8,726 tuberculosis cases in 2025, with 75% affecting lungs and many being infectious. Most cases come from densely populated western areas. TB spreads through air but is preventable and treatable. Only 5 to 10% infected develop symptoms, while BCG vaccine helps protect children from severe disease and death.
