Sri Lanka on Saturday said that it has detected the first case of the COVID-19 variant first detected in India in a person who recently returned from India. The variant was detected from samples collected from a quarantine centre, the Immunity and Cell Biology Unit at Sri Jayewardenepura University said. COVID-19 has infected over 1.21 lakh people in Sri Lanka.
