Sri Lanka’s Ex-first lady arrested for misusing charity funds meant for children's hospital

Sri Lanka's former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa has been arrested over allegations that her charity misused donations collected for a children’s hospital. The $30,300 in donations collected by her charity was supposed to be spent on a specialised scanner for a children’s hospital, but officials said such a scanner had already been donated by the Chinese government.
