Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, who beat Neeraj Chopra to win CWG 2026 gold, was previously a fast bowler. The 23-year-old clocked 134 kmph while playing cricket at the Under-18 level before switching to javelin. Pathirage won the men’s javelin final with an 89.75-metre throw, while Neeraj secured silver with an 85.83-metre effort in Glasgow.
