Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, who headed Feature Film jury for 71st National Film Awards, explained reasoning behind awards, controversial film 'The Kerala Story', won at the event. He said, "Cinematography in 'The Kerala Story' was stark and realistic. It didn't ever try to overpower the narrative." He further added, "It's a difficult topic to convey...we felt the need to applaud it."
