British airline Virgin Atlantic's Co-founder Richard Branson in a blog said that he started the airline 36 years ago after his flight to the British Virgin Islands, where he was supposed to meet his girlfriend (now wife), was suddenly cancelled. "I hired a plane, borrowed whiteboard and scrawled 'Virgin Airlines' on it as a joke, advertising $39 fares," Branson added.
