Maharashtra earns roughly ₹36,000 crore a year from alcohol, while Karnataka tops the country at about ₹48,000 crore, Living Liquidz director Moksh Sani said on the podcast. Calling it the second-largest revenue source after tobacco, he said state earnings from liquor keep growing every year.
