Eight states have issued bonds worth ₹98,959 crore under the Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY) bonds in the fiscal 2015-16, according to RBI data. The scheme, launched in November 2015, aims to provide revival packages for the debt-ridden power distribution companies (discoms). RBI said that it had issued the special bonds on behalf of the state governments under the scheme.
