In an 8:1 majority ruling, the Supreme Court held that states have regulatory power over production, manufacture and supply of industrial alcohol. It overruled a 1990 judgement which said states cannot tax industrial alcohol. It said states' power to make industrial alcohol laws cannot be taken away. Meanwhile, Justice Hrishikesh Roy joked, "For the winning side (states)...happy hours begin now."
