In 1960, John Bissell started Fabindia after he fell in love with the Indian culture and wanted to save traditional Indian handloom industry. Initially started with exports, FabIndia pivoted to retail in 1976 by opening the first outlet at Greater Kailash in Delhi. Today, it is a ₹17,000 crore company with 400+ stores.
