An eight-year survey spanning 7,680 km across the Ganga River Basin reveals that a staggering 0.26% (2,138 sq km) qualifies as highly suitable habitat for the vulnerable Smooth-coated otter. Researchers from WII used ensemble modeling to pinpoint the last critical refuges for this apex aquatic predator.
