Stress can suppress the urge to itch: IISc study

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) discovered that specific neurons in the lateral hypothalamic area (LHA) become active during stress and can directly control itch. Using genetically engineered mice, they found that activating these neurons suppressed acute itching. This study reveals how the brain links emotional states like stress to the sensation of itch.
