Strong monsoon spurs rural demand and lowers inflation

India's southwest monsoon is 7% above average as of July-end, with improved rainfall aiding Kharif sowing and lifting rural demand. Economist Vivek Kumar says this could push agri-GVA to 4-4.5%, boost consumption, and help inflation fall to 3% this year. The wider economy may not shift much, but rural India could feel the difference.
